A hydraulic press is a kind of forging equipment that uses liquid pressure to transmit energy. It includes an hydraulic press with oil as the working medium and a hydraulic press with water as the working medium.

Forging hydraulic presses include free forging hydraulic presses, die forging hydraulic presses and trimming hydraulic presses.The common die forging hydraulic presses in forging production can be divided into two categories: general die forging hydraulic presses and special die forging hydraulic presses.The main structural forms of hydraulic presses are pull-down and push-down. Four-column hydraulic presses of various specifications generally use push-down design.

The characteristics of die forging of hydraulic presses are that on directly driven hydraulic presses, the movable beam can obtain the maximum load at any position of the entire stroke.

Whether it is a directly driven hydraulic press or a hydraulic press driven by a accumulator, it is easy to obtain a larger total pressure, a larger working space and a longer stroke in structure, so it is easy to forge longer and higher large forgings, which is often difficult for forging hammers and other forging equipment.

In addition to the large mold pads and positioners on the hydraulic press, there is also a synchronous balance system of movable beams to ensure that the mold is skewed when forging eccentrically.Compared with the forging hammer, the hydraulic press works smoothly, with little impact and vibration, and little noise; it has low requirements for the plant and foundation, and no damage to the surrounding environment.Compared with mechanical presses, the body structure of hydraulic presses is relatively simple. The relief valve can limit the liquid pressure acting on the plunger, and the maximum planting load can be limited to protect the mold and not cause stuffy cars.The speed of the movable beam of the hydraulic press can be controlled. The maximum speed of the movable beam during the working stroke is about 50mm/s, and the load can be regarded as a static load; it is suitable for isothermal die forging and superplastic die forging.
